Climate: Phuket has a tropical climate with monsoons.
The best time to visit is between Nov – Feb (cooler and dry).
Sep – Oct is the wettest time, Apr – May the hottest with frequent short heavy thundershowers. Monsoon season is from Jun-Oct. Jun-Aug also has brief but heavy showers interspersed with sunshine.
Water temperatures are warm.

Time Difference: 5 hours ahead of SA.

Currency: 1 Baht (THB) = 100 satang. The exchange rate as at 26 Sep 2008, 09:45 is R1.00 – THB4.17. All hotels convert travelers cheques and major currencies into THB, though exchange rates are better at banks & authorised money changers. Major credit cards accepted at most tourist shops/hotels. Clients are advised to obtain their credit card pin numbers before leaving the country as most ATMs prompt you for a pin when withdrawing cash from your credit card.

Visa Information: South African passport holders visiting The Kingdom of Thailand for tourism purposes only do not require a visa for a stay of up to 30 days. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from date of application.
